Fujimore - Chicken Teriyaki Obento

Fujimore offers up fresh, tasty Japanese food at a good price. Today's dish was the "Chicken Set" for $8.50. The meal is composed of 5 complimentary sections:
  • Miso soup. Your standard miso. Tasty, but was a little cool.
  • Sushi rolls. 2 x pieces of tuna sushi - fresh and delicious. Served with decent wasabi on the side.
  • Rice. Nicely cooked, a good size helping to go with the...
  • Teriyaki chicken. Tender chicken strips in a delicious teriyaki sauce topped with sesame seeds.
  • Salad. Simple, nice, well dressed.

Presentation Given this is a dish served in a food hall, the presentation is excellent. The food looks colourful and inviting. I'm not a big fan of the disposable wooden chopsticks supplied with the meal, but that's a small gripe. 9/10

Size There was plenty of food, but not so much to make me over-full. Ideally sized for lunch. 10/10.

Value for money You couldn't ask for a better deal for $8.50. 10/10

Quality Top notch. Food was freshly prepared and nicely cooked. 9/10

Overall Excellent. Highly recommended. 9.5/10

Who wins - kebab or chicken set? No contest. Chicken set wins.

Red Pepper - Burger with the Lot

West Perth food court standard kebab takes on the burger:

Today's choice for a $8.00 was Red Pepper's Works Burger

Presentation - 5/10 - Standard Open burger presentation, tomato, greens and the burger giving off colours, contrasting against the bacon and egg.

Size - 4/10 - probably too big for a lunchtime burger

Value for money - 7/10 - good volume for a decent price

Quality - 6/10 - home made pattie for the burger itself, the egg and sauce that were added dripped all over the plate making for messy eating.

Overall assessment - 6.5/10, A heavy meal, and one only to be eaten when feeling up to it. Would sit inside your stomach slightly higher than fatty chinese, but nowhere near as healthy, or as interesting as the kebab.

Kebab beats burger.

Thursday 27 Sept

Ok here goes. Review numbero uno. Will today's meal beat the stock standard kebab? West Perth food court here we come...

Today's choice for a $6.50 was beef stroganoff and rice from Red Pepper.

Presentation - 4/10 - rice with non-descript brown stuff on top
Size - 7/10 - not bad
Value for money - 7/10 - good volume for a decent price
Quality - 6/10 - real meat (imagine that) but rather old (white) rice (perhaps yesterday's rice from Fujimore?)

Overall assessment - an OK 6/10, quite do-able but the kebab probably wins today.
